I am a member of the Research Group in Spoken and Multilingual Dialogue Systems (SISDIAL - Sistemas de Diálogo Hablado y Multimodal), and my main research interests are in the areas of Affective Computing, Language Processing, Speech Technologies , Artificial intelligence and Cognitive Science:

  • Design, implementation and evaluation of adaptive dialogue systems.
  • Affective Computing and emotion recognition from speech.
  • Emotion Anotation Measures and Tools.
  • Planning/Decision-making under uncertainty.
  • Computer Supported Learning and educational technologies.
  • Human-computer interfaces for Ambience Intelligence.
  • Intelligent and natural interaction with computer-based systems.
Additionally, I have been a visiting researcher in University of Ulster (Northern Ireland), the Technical University of Liberec (Czech Republic), the University of Trento (Italy) and the Technical University of Berlin in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011 and 2012.
